Description
We are so excited to announce Sharni Williams into the Scrunchiko sisterhood, which means a new Aktiv Scrunchie! Hailing from Barlow, Sharni was always destined for great things. In 2010, she was selected in the Wallaroos for the Rugby World Cup. She has played in every leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series from its inception in 2012 until she suffered injury in 2016. She made her comeback later in 2016 where she co-captained and won the first Rugby 7s gold medal at the Rio Olympic Games and soon after was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for her accomplishment . In 2017, she was then selected in the Wallaroos for the Rugby World Cup, and in return was part of the inaugural AON 7’s series representing the University of Canberra. Outside of her sporting achievements, Sharni is a humble person. Giving her time back to grassroots sports, and offering guidance through SLO-coach, so the next generation of athletes has a solid pathway to follow. Last year when Sharni saw her hometown of Batlow destroyed by fire, she single handedly raised over $20,000 for her community. For these reasons and many more, we welcome her to be part of a community that is constantly pushing the boundaries and setting new standards.
